Oriana’s Chit-Chat Corner

Pi Day is the perfect excuse to bake something round, cozy, and meant to be shared. In our house, it’s less about math and more about gathering around the table with something homemade.

Every year around March 14th, I start getting the same question: “Can I really make pie without eggs?”

After more than a decade of egg-free baking, I can assure you don’t need eggs to make desserts that feel bakery-worthy—just the right method and a little understanding of how ingredients work together. Pie can feel intimidating without eggs because so many classic fillings rely on them for structure. But once you know how to build that structure in other ways, everything changes.

This collection is full of egg-free pies designed from the start that way — not awkwardly adapted. Because dessert should bring everyone to the table, not leave anyone out.

And the best part? It’s completely egg-free.

What Is Pi Day?

Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 (3/14) because 3.14 are the first digits of π (pi), the mathematical constant. In schools, kids talk about circles and ratios. At home? We bake something round and delicious.

And honestly, that’s my favorite kind of holiday.

In our house, Pi Day has turned into:

  • A mid-March baking moment when winter feels long
  • A fun after-school surprise
  • An excuse to try a new pie flavor
  • A way to make math feel warm and approachable

It’s not fussy. It’s not formal. It’s just… pie.
