Copycat Chick Fil A Superfood Salad Recipe
I am not really into fast-food restaurants but one we visit often is Chick fil A. My husband likes their food, my kid love that they get to play in their play area after they eat, which is very convenient especially during winter, and I like that they offer a healthier fast-food option compared to others fast-food restaurants.
A few weeks ago we stopped by to eat lunch and we were informed that the traditional Coleslaw salad was replaced for a “Superfood Side”. Oh boy!!… My husband was super disappointed, that salad was one of his favorite sides. Thank goodness the manager was kind enough to give us the recipe to make it at home. Anyway. We overcame our disappointment and decided to give the new salad a try. And to make a long story short, ever since I tried it I’ve been obsessed with it.
You are going to love this Copycat Chick Fil A Superfood Salad recipe!
This salad is very straightforward! Kale, broccolini, dried cherries, and roasted nuts. The real secret, in my opinion, is the vinaigrette. I figured I could do a few test runs to find the perfect copycat recipe of my own. So… guess what? I figured it out and it’s spot on!
You can find the Maple Vinaigrette recipe here.

Copycat Chick fil A Superfood Salad
Ingredients
- 4 cups kale, loosely chopped or torn
- Maple vinaigrette to your taste
- 1 bunch broccolini, chopped
- 1/2 cup dried cherries
- Roasted nuts to your taste (I used walnuts)
Instructions
- Combine the kale, broccolini, dried cherries, and nuts in a large bowl.
- Add vinaigrette to the salad, and toss well. Note: I like tossing with the vinaigrette about 15 minutes before I serve it because the kale will soften in the vinaigrette.
- Serve.

Can this be refrigerated and eaten on for several days once everything is combined or should the dressing be added when eating it? Just not sure that we would eat it all at once or if I wanted to make more to have for several days. Thank you
Oriana Romero says
Hello Casey – yes, you can store the leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Make sure it is well covered. Thanks for your interest in my recipe. Please come back and let me know how you like it =)

LaChelle Rininger says
I made this along with the maple vinaigrette dressing and it was excellent. No need to make changes. One thing that really annoys me is when people rate a recipe based on the changes they made to make it a completely different one.
Oriana Romero says
Thanks so much for trying my recipe and for your feedback, LaChelle! I totally agree about the rating. =)
Cathy says
Absolutely perfect! Thanks so much for the recipe!

Never had their coleslaw but I use to love their carrot slaw and I was disappointed when it was gone. But I to tried the superfood salad and it’s my favorite. Thanks for this copy cat recipe, it’s great!

SS says
I was nervous to try this recipe because others like it have such different ingredients for the dressing but Guys it was totally spot on! When I tasted the dressing I was in love! For the salad I used a kale/carrot/red cabbage salad mix and added chopped baby broccoli. I used dried cranberries and honey roasted pecans. For the dressing I left the zest out but kept the other ingredients the same. Sooooo good!!! Letting the salad sit is definitely key. Thank you! It was a hit for thanksgiving and will be added to the rotation.
Oriana says
Hello SS! Thank you so much for trying my recipe, and I’m SO GLAD you enjoyed it!!

Betty says
While I found several recipes for a “look-alike”, yours sounded best! Now that I’ve made it, am here to say “WOW” – it’s great. Thanks so much for putting in the leg work to create the recipe! Along the way I’ve learned about rapini (because I clearly forgot about broccolini) – not a candidate for the superfood salad, but a great addition to a healthy diet.
Oriana says
Thank you so much Betty! I’m delighted to hear you enjoyed it so much.
Lise says
I made this salad because I love the Chik Fil a version. I did substitute agave nectar for the honey and put Maple flavoring in it. Taste the same as Chik fil a. Thanks!
Oriana says
Hello Lise! I’m SO happy you enjoyed it. Thank you for taking the time to come back and let me know!?
Judy says
Thanks ,but Im going to substitute the maple syrup with ll the sugar for sugar free syrup
Oriana says
Hi Judy! I think it would work fine. Thanks for your interest in my recipe ????
Becky says
Does the broccolini need to be softened or will the dressing soften it?
Oriana says
Hello Becky! I like it raw, but you can cook it for a couple of minutes if you prefer. Thanks for your interest in my recipe.
Steph Thorne says
I am literally sitting here in Chick-fil-A trying to figure out how to make this salad and dressing at home and I stumbled on your site. Thank you! We don’t have the superfood salad on the menu in our area, and we just visited this one while on vacation. I can’t wait to try this when I get home. Thanks!
Oriana says

Janet Blesi says
Love it! Now we can enjoy “superfood” twice as often for half the price! Didn’t have dried cherries, but craisins (nuked with a little o.j.) was a good substitute. I’ll be returning to this recipe often — thanks for sharing!
Oriana says
I’m so glad you love this too, Janet! Thank you so much for letting me know!
Anread says
Yummmmmmmmm delish! Thank you for sharing this!
Emily says
love this recipe! I make a huge bowl and take for lunches & I find it to be perfect. As far as the blanching debate goes, don’t (unless that’s your thing…if so…carry on)! if it’s too rough, try giving the kale a little “massage” this will break down the cells and make it softer. You will actually be able to see the greens turning a darker color. Chick-fil-a’s probably sits in their dressing for a day so that’s why you get a nice soft green. Hope that helps others!
Oriana says
I agree, Emily!!! Thanks for stopping by.
Elena says
I agree with “massaging” the kale with a tiny bit of salt. It does make it so tender. When it’s massaged enough (doesn’t take long), the kale turns a bright green color. I do rinse off the salt and pat the kale dry. Delicious!
Jennifer says
I recently fell in love with this salad and I’m making it as I type this. I could not find bocolini in the store. I even went to wholefoods. I did however, find broccoli rabe. I just chopped it up leaves and all and threw it in. Tastes fine to me!
Oriana says
Thanks for trying this recipe, Jennifer! I’m so glad you enjoyed it ????
Joan says
Is the broccolini cooked or just as is washed and served ?
Oriana says
Hello Joan, the broccolini is served raw. Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week ????
Jennifer says
This was absolutely phenomenal! Non-kale waters were wolfing this down at Thanksgiving. This is a keeper! Thank you!!!
Jennifer says
Non-kale *eaters
Oriana says
Hi Jennifer!! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I’m SO glad you enjoyed this, thanks so much for trying my recipe!
Amy says
Bless you. This works for me! Pretty close enough to real thing. I’m eating a home-made salad for the first time in months and months thanks to you.
Cam says
I’ve made this like 4x already and it’s pretty fantastic so thanks for sharing. Maybe some helpful things that might benefit other users that I’ve found in my experimenting:
1. Tried blanching- It made it too wet and soggy despite my best efforts to drain and paper towel dry it (did this twice).
2. Tried raw- The kale was too stiff for me this way.
3. Pour hot water over Kale- I did blanch the broccolini and I washed the Kale as normal and used the hot water from blanching to pour over kale and I think this was just perfect!
The vinaigrette is good too, not exact, but pretty close! Also, for the topping I used a short cut and bought the Sahale Snacks brand “Valdosta Pecans” glazed mix.
Oriana says
Hello Cam! Thank you so much for trying my recipe, and I’m SO GLAD you enjoyed it!!
Tina says
I’ve never lefts comments before, but I just wanted to thank you for the recipe. I was obsessed with Chick’s super salad. I had it while away on vacation. And since I don’t have a Chick Fil A near me…
Even my son asked for seconds!!!!! Seriously!!!! Thank you. ????
Oriana says
WOO HOO! So glad you enjoyed this, thanks so much for trying my recipe, Tina!
Dave McNeil says
This salad represents two major firsts for me. It is the first salad and the first dish which includes kale that I have flipped over.
To begin I blanched the kale and broccolini. It appears to me that Chick-Fil-A does this as well. This adds to preparation time but I think it is worth it.
The dressing is a perfect duplicate of the original.
Oriana says
I am glad you love my recipe!! YAY for firsts ????
Debbie Bailey says
Hi – have you tried this without the broccalini? Any substitute? Not sure they carry it near me – Trader Joes is 1 1/2 hours away! Can’t wait to try the dressing. Thanks for the info.
Oriana says
Hello Debbie! Regular broccoli works great. Please let me know if you give it a try. Thanks =)
Amy says
Cant wait to make this but before I do. Do you blanch/cook the broccolini or just chop it up raw?
mommyhoodsdiary says
Hello Amy,
I serve it raw, but it’s up to you if you want to blanch it.
Liz says
Where do you find the broccolini? I can’t wait to try this. Thanks!
mommyhoodsdiary says
Hi Liz, in my area I can find it almost in every grocery store but if you are having a hard time finding broccolini in your grocery store, try at Trader Joe’s or Whole food.
Emily says
I made this for Mother’s Day after my mother in law requested “That new chick fil a salad.” I have never tried the restaurant one, but if it’s anything like this recipe (my MIL and sister in law said it is spot on!!) I will always be getting it from now on. This is a fabulous recipe and is so incredibly simple. I used finely chopped broccoli, with the stalk, in place of broccolini because my grocery store doesn’t carry the later veg. It was superb.
mommyhoodsdiary says
Hello Emily, I’m very glad you and your family liked the recipe! Thanks so much for your kind comment.
Kim says
The vinaigrette is delicious, however, it’s not a copy of Chick-fil-a’s maple (theirs definitely has a strong onion flavor and no lemon). That being said, we loved the lemony goodness of this one, and it pairs very well with a seafood dish. The recipe is a keeper!
mommyhoodsdiary says
Glad your liked it at least! Sorry you didn’t find the taste to be similar — we find it to be very close in taste! Thanks for your feedback.
Simon says
Wow this looks stunning! I bet I could convince my whole family to eat it even the kids they love broccoli! Thanks for finding out the recipe and sharing it 🙂
mommyhoodsdiary says
Thanks Simon! Hope you give it a try.
Sophia, Veggies Don't Bite says
