  • 2 1/4 cups (540 ml) water
  • 1 chicken stock cube or 2 teaspoons chicken bouillon powder or base (paste)
  • 1 beef stock cube or 2 teaspoons beef bouillon powder or base (paste)
  • 4 tablespoons (58 g) unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons (40 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon finely ground black pepper
  • Salt to taste ( I don't add more salt)

Instructions
 

  • Place the water and stock cubes in a microwave-safe measuring cup. Microwave for about 2 minutes, until the water is nearly boiling and the cubes are mostly dissolved. Carefully remove from the microwave. Add the soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce, stir to combine, and set aside.

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
