With an electric mixer on medium speed cream butter for 4 - 5 minutes until light and fluffy.
Add the confectioner's sugar gradually, beating after each addition.
Add the Nutella, beating until smooth.
Beat in the vanilla extract, salt, and heavy whipping cream until desired spreading consistency is reached, about 2 minutes
Cream the butter long enough so the frosting will not have a buttery flavor. That's my secret!
