Slow Cooker Beer Pork Chops

These Slow Cooker Beer Pork Chops are spectacularly delicious! This recipe results in tender, flavor-packed pork chops that taste like a million bucks. You can make this tonight with any pork chops or even CHICKEN!

Ingredients

  • 6 – 8 pork chops (see notes)
  • 1 teaspoon salt ,or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper ,or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon canola or vegetable oil (optional)
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 bottle (330 ml) of beer
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  • Season pork chops with salt, black pepper and garlic powder.
  • In the slow cooker or a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat; brown chops on both sides. If you are short of time you can skip this step.
  • Place pork chops in the slow cooker.
  • Mix ketchup, beer and brown sugar in a small bowl. Pour this mixture over the pork chops in the slow cooker and cover.
  • Cook on HIGH heat setting for 3 hours or on LOW for 6 hours, or until fork-tender. Remove pork chops from slow cooker, and place on a plate; cover to keep warm.
  • In a small bowl, stir cornstarch and water until well blended; stir into sauce in slow cooker. Return pork chops to the slow cooker. Cover and cook on HIGH heat setting 15 minutes or until thickened.
  • Serve pork chops with the sauce.

Notes

Thick pork loin chops (with bone) are the best cut for this recipe. 
 
 
You could also use chicken - however, the cooking time may change a little depending on the thickness of the chicken. Cook for same time for boneless thigh fillets and/or 7oz breasts. For thicker cuts cook until a meat thermometer reads 165º Fahrenheit.
 
 
Freezing: Place pork chops and sauce in freezer containers. Cool and freeze. To reheat, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Heat through in a covered saucepan over medium low heat, gently stirring sauce and adding a little water if necessary.
